Replacing a Refrigerator Fan Motor

refrigerator fan motor
If your Refrigerator Fan Motor stops working, it is because when temperature of the refrigerant will rise and compressor may overheat. Here's how to replace a refrigerator fan motors. A condenser fan motor is used on front-free refrigerators that includes condenser coil in the bottom of the cabinet and inside the compressor compartment. The refrigerator fan runs whenever compressor runs and it draws cool room through the front grille and circulates it through the condenser coils, over the compressor, back out the front grille into the room. The circulating air helps to cool the compressor as well as refrigerant in the condenser coils. The air also helps dissipate the water in the drain pan.

Tips to maintain Refrigerator Fan Motor:

  • First unplug the refrigerator and pull it away from the wall.
  • Remove rear access cover from the motor compartment
  • To remove dust from the fan blades, motor and condenser, use a paint brush, then you can clean vacuum the area thoroughly.
  • Turn the fan blade to see if it moving freely or not. If the motor blade doesn't move, then you can replace it.
