Couple of Rules while replacing Air Conditioner Capacitor

Air Conditioner Capacitor

1. Voltage: You can always replace higher value capacitor but not with a lower voltage capacitor.(Suppose you  have a 380 Voltage cap you can replace with 450 Voltage cap but not vice versa)

2. Micro Farads: Stay within 10%(either +/-) of the micro-farad value. (For example 40  MFD cap can't be replaced by a 45 MFD but 50 MFD can be replaced by 55 MFD)

3. For Fan Motors: Some of the air conditioner use the Fan terminal for dual capacitor. While replacing a air conditioner indoor motors, you can use a new standard capacitor for fan motors. For your compressor continuously use dual capacitor.

These three rules helps when you buying new air conditioner capacitors...!!!

Microwave Magnetron

microwave magnetron

Do you want to cook a dinner within 5-minutes or you can make an airplane safer to fly in bad weather? For that you need a some microwaves can help, those are the super-energetic, invisible and short wave length radio waves that travel at the speed of light and doing some important stuff in microwave ovens and radar-navigation equipment's. If you have a right equipment like handy gadget called magnetron, make use of magnetron and you can prepare food in microwaves within a 5-minutes.

What is Magnetron and How does it works?

Let's take a closer look! Microwave Oven contains high voltage and it should be handled with extreme care. Magnetron are horribly complicated and it has quite a lot in common with a cathode ray(electron) tube. Magnetron generates radio waves they are usually no shorter than 1mm and no longer than 30cm.

How does a Magnetron make Microwaves?

Structure of Magnetron

1. There is a heated cathode at the center of magnetron.

2. A ring shaped anode surrounds the cathode.

3. If you switched on a simple magnetron, electrons would boil off from the cathode and zip across to the anode in straight lines.

4. First, Anode has holes or slots cut into it called resonant cavities. Second, To generate a magnetic field along with the length of the tube, magnet is placed underneath the anode.

5. Now when the electrons try to zip from cathode to anode, they travel through an electric field and at the same time magnetic field can also travel, So like that electrically charged particles can be moved to the magnetic field. Instead of straight one, they feel a force and follow a curved path, whizzing around the space between anode and cathode.

6. When electron nip past the cavities, then cavities resonate and emits the microwave radiation.

7. When microwave radiation produces cavities, it collects the kind of funnel called waveguide, either from cooking compartment of a microwave oven.

Electrical Safety Precautions:

Before you start repairing appliances, make sure you turn off or unplug the power completely. While servicing your appliances, if voltage is required for testing purpose then reconnect the power supply only for duration of the voltage test. When giving for a voltage test, make sure that no other appliances parts or electronic parts come into contact with current carrying metal parts.

When you replacing any appliances, always reinstall the wires to the correct terminals as per the circuit diagram. Inspect the wires closely to make sure that they aren't crossing any sharp areas that cause an electrical malfunction.

Important safety tips for electrical repairs:

  • First make sure that each appliances has its own grounded electrical circuit.
  • Don't use extension cord to plug your appliances.
  • Before servicing any appliances or consumer electronic, make sure that electricity has been turned off.
  • Don't remove ground wire from 3-prong power cord or any other ground wires from the appliances.
  • While repairing any appliances, replace the damaged, pinched or frayed wires.
  • Don't perform any alterations to any appliance switches, components or features.

Refrigerator Relay – How do test a Refrigerator Relay Switch

refrigerator relay switch
To keep refrigerator inside cool, required a refrigerator relay compressor. There is a thermostat inside the refrigerator tells the compressor when to turn on and when turn off to maintain safe cooling levels. When the temperature raises inside the refrigerator above the present thermostat settings, the thermostat sends an electrical signal to relay switch to start the compressor. If the temperature rised from inside you will hear a clicking noise comes from beneath the refrigerator, it could be a failed compressor relay switch. Test the refrigerator relay switch if it needs replacing.
  • To access the rear of the appliances, you can move the refrigerator out from the wall. First step you have to disconnect the refrigerator power cord from wall receptacle and turn off the water supply to ice maker , make use of adjustable wrench to remove the supply line from water valve.
  • Unscrew the connectors to hold the access panel to the bottom rear of the refrigerator, then access the panel from the appliances.
  • You have to follow the wires to find the metal terminal box connected to either sides of the refrigerator relay compressor. Grab the terminal box cover and pull it off to access the refrigerator relay switch.

Follow steps to replace Refrigerator Fan Motor

Refrigerator Fan Motor

Steps to Replace Refrigerator Fan Motor

Step 1: To replace the motor follow its two wires back to the starting point and Remove wires using a pair of needle – nose forceps.
Step 2: Use screwdriver or nut driver to remove the ascent screws that hold the fan association and bracket onto the metal divider in the motor area.
Step 3: Carefully remove the fan from the motor division. Next, remove the fan blade from fan motor by backing off thin rectangular nut, that secures the fan motor.
Step 4: Next, take the fan motor blade and rubber washer off the motor shaft. Remove the mounting bracket from the old refrigerator fan motor and install it on the new fan motor.
Step 5: Next, Install the rubber washer and fan blade on the new fan motor. Fix all the nuts and re-install the fan and attach the fan motor wires to the terminal block.
Step 6: Check no wires in the way of the blade or motor, that fan spins freely.Install the rear access cover, then plug the refrigerator back in and test run it.
