In most of the places Power Supply is more erratic. Voltage will
fluctuating in both up and down directions at many places regularly.
When voltage fluctuates appliances will damage, there by causing them
to end much more before their normal useful life. When voltage goes
down direction, electric current in the appliance will increase the
current and which can result in burning of the appliance. We found voltage stabilizers in many homes and offices in India. In this
article we will talk about what are voltage stabilizers and how they
works?
What
are Voltage Stabilizers and How do they work?
The name itself says that, voltage stabilizers stabilize the voltage,
means when voltage fluctuates or varies, it brings it to the desired
range. It will work on electro-magnetic regulators, uses in tap
changers with auto transformers. If output of the voltage is not in
desired range a mechanism switches the tap to change transformer to
move the voltage in acceptable range. It does not give a constant
output, but it operates the system in a safe and secure voltage
range.
Do you want know how much electricity do voltage stabilizers consume?
Depends on efficiency of the stabilizers, voltage stabilizers consumed electricity. Basically voltage stabilizers are 95-98% efficient, means they consume about 02-05% of the maximum load. So for 1kVA (1000 VA) stabilizer, it will consume 50 watts (on peak load). For 1kVA stabilizers is left on for 10 hrs, it would consume 0.5 unit of electricity. This is the reason leaving it on 24 hrs can lead a lot of electricity consumption.
