Overload Relay is a protection device, that can be used in the compressor circuit on your refrigerator. Power can be applied to the compressor motor winding through the overload relay device. Relay can be used to add the start winding in the compressor circuit until the compressor is at running speed. On modern refrigerators, the overload relay is usually a combined part and plugs directly onto the side of the compressor. The overload relay can be checked for continuity with a multi meter. Start capacitor is also attached to the relay overload aggregation. The start capacitor provides increased the starting voltage to the compressor winding. If the start capacitor is defective then the compressor will not start. Check the symptom of compressor-overheating and replace compressor if necessary.
